Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Thanksgiving is the heartfelt expression of appreciation to God and to each other.

In my heart, every day should be Thanksgiving! Why shouldn’t it? There is always so much to be thankful for.

I love Thanksgiving! It’s such a festive time of year. You may have noticed that Thanksgiving in the US is six days later this year than last. What’s interesting about this, is that it coincides with the 8 day Jewish ‘Festival of Lights’ known as Hanukkah, which began last night and runs until Thursday, December 5th.

With love and appreciation, I say “Happy Thanksgiving” to all my friends in the US and elsewhere celebrating, and “Happy Hanukkah” to my Jewish friends. May your lives be filled with blessings.

Reasons for Thanksgiving

  1. God, whose steady hand continues to guide my life. Psalms 95:2 says, “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”  This is just one of the 28 times Thanksgiving is mentioned in the Bible.
  2. For my wife, Colleen, to whom I can honestly say, I love you more with each passing day.” Thank you for blessing me in every way. The best is yet to be.
  3. For my daughter Laura, featured here, who I am most proud to be her “Daddy-O.” Thank you, Laura, for every beautiful memory. I love you PWAML.
  4. For friends, old and new, near and far, who have in many ways, all helped to make me who I am today. For every kindness shown to me, I am most appreciative.
  5. For the hundreds of police officers and emergency service workers I know that keep us safe every day. You are all unsung heroes and among the finest human beings.
  6. For health, and the help of many great doctors and surgeons. Thank you for saving my life Dr. Valsa Thomas.
  7. For the opportunities we have had to touch lives around the world… churches, community centres, disaster sites, orphanages, seniors centres. We have been privileged to serve you.
  8. For living in such pristine beauty, for scenic sunrises and spectacular sunsets, for majestic mountains, lakes and streams.
  9. For websites such as Simple Reminders, TED and Values that keep me inspired every day.

For all who have visited my blog, commented, subscribed and shared on social media, for those of you who helped me with website issues, or answered questions on how things work, I could not have made it this far without you. I am so very grateful.

I thank you for your ongoing encouragement and inspiration, and especially for teaching yourself to me. I really appreciate you!

In the spirit of gratitude and thankfulness, here are…

Thank you so much for the inspired poem… for your continued friendship that fills a tome.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, and your loved ones. May it be rich with meaning.

  5. Bill, I love this time year as well. People are nice to each other. I wish that was the case all year.

However, I will take what I can get.

You have a great list of reasons to be thankful. I have an equal amount of things to be thankful for as well.

I wish we could bring all our troops home because I know the kids are missing their parents.
I love those videos where the kid runs to their father/mother.

    Happy Thanksgiving

    • Hi Michael,

I hope you have had a beautiful Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean, and our wish is that everyone would treat each other better all the time, right?

I empathize with those who act out because of the pain they are in. The question is, “What can we do to help them
get beyond their pain?” I am very thankful when I look back on where I have been in my life and who I have become,
never letting the abuse I suffered to stop me from becoming the best person I can be.

Yes, I was in the military at 17 and know all too well those feelings of loneliness, of being away.
That loneliness was offset with a joyous feeling… 300 miles out with no land in sight… there really is no other feeling
      like it in the world.

Yes, I love those reunion videos too.

      Kind Regards,

  6. Hi Bill,

Let me wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving 🙂

Yes, Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish friends too – who celebrate it during this same time, it surely is such a lovely coincidence and the perfect time for everyone to be with their loved ones and take a break from work too!

I know we wait for days like this to express our gratitude to everyone for being so good, but being grateful should be a part of our daily lives, isn’t it? Right from the time we wake up in the morning till we go to sleep at night – never a moment passes when His presence is not felt. Not to mention the wonderful friend’s we have made in the Blogosphere and the way they inspire and motivate us through their comments.

Lovely quotes indeed, and it’s tough to choose 1-2 because they’re ALL so good. Thank you for being such a wonderful online friend too 🙂

    • Hello Harleena,

Thank you very much! I hope you have enjoyed a delightful time with your loved ones.

Can you imagine if everyone in the world stopped to reflect on what they appreciate, who they are grateful for?
Many people think this is just a pipe dream, but the Heart Math Institute has done a number of scientific studies showing
how good it is for our heart to be compassionate and empathetic. What they’re finding is amazing!

I appreciate your thoughtfulness… I appreciate the content you publish on your website. I know it helps countless people,
and I love your heart for others. Thank you for your friendship. 🙂

      Warm Regards,

  7. Hello William,

I’m grateful for every drag of breath I have taken, I’m grateful for my beautiful family and I’m grateful for the excellent friends I have like you.

Of the quotations shared, I love this most:

“No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.” ~ Alfred North Whitehead

Nothing could be farther from the truth or more relevant for introspection this season.

    Do have a supercharged day!

    – Terungwa

    • Hello Terungwa,

All these expressions of gratitude are wonderful. I am grateful to be counted amongst your friends as well.
In my heart, every day is a new day of Thanksgiving.

      Be blessed, my friend!

I hope you have had a great time of celebration with your friends.

Thank you for those kind words of encouragement. I aim to be a blessing and inspire others,
so it’s nice to have such feedback.

May blessings flow wherever you go!

  9. Hi Bill,

This post goes hand in hand with what I’ve just written in mine a few days ago.

The more we are grateful the more things to be grateful for we will receive. Interestingly, in my case I didn’t start to be grateful until my life actually had become much tougher, because it’s when I started learning about gratefulness and what it does.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving day!

    • Hi Sylviane,

I trust you are fine. Yes, I agree with you entirely. Being actively appreciative tends to bring more gratitude.
It’s funny how sometimes it takes going through the rough patches to land upon what really works in life, isn’t it?

Thank you for your kind regards. To me, every day is Thanksgiving 🙂

  10. Hi Bill,

I send you my sincere thanksgiving celebration to you and your family. It’s a special day and moreso, thanks for creating the time to post such wonderful and inspiring quotes.

  11. Hello Mr. Bill
I hope you and your family had a great day of Thanksgiving.

I really enjoy reading your posts because there are inspirational, but they also make you think.

All of the quotes are beautiful and heart warming, but # 12 really speaks of a grateful heart.
~Epictetus…He is a wise man who does not grieve for things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he had.

    Thank you again

    • Hello Gladys,

Nice to hear from you again. Thank you so much for the encouragement.
Yes being grateful really is a daily heart attitude, and one that people should not wait until Thanksgiving to express.

You are very welcome. Hope you’re having a blessed weekend!

  12. Bill,

What a great uplifting post! my favorite quote is If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough. ~ Meister Eckhart

Thanks for all that you do!

  13. Hey Bill,

What a coincidence, I just left Kumar’s blog and he shared something pretty similar. Of course I’m late getting by here and Thanksgiving has come and gone. I was busy cooking the day before and then of course spending this wonderful day with my family. I actually took some time off the computer and got some other things done as well as went to see my nephew.

You are right, we should all be thankful every single say and like you, I have a long list I go through every single morning that I’m thankful for. I think if you appreciate life more and the things you have and the people in them you’ll find that you’re just a much happier person. I sure know that you are Bill.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful quotes as well and I hope you had a joyous weekend.

I appreciate it and you have a great week ahead.

    • Greetings Adrienne,

I trust you are as well as can be. 🙂 My week is off to a great start, thanks. 🙂

Yes, life does present those times when certain things coincide. I’m glad you took time away from the computer.
It’s always nice to have time with loved ones. Many times, that’s why I’m late in commenting as well. It’s almost
like learning to be a juggler.

You’re right on with what you’ve said. More appreciation brings you more happiness.

You’re very welcome! My pleasure to contribute.

      Best Regards,

  14. Hey Bill,

I’m a bit late on this blog post but I had to stop by anyways to check out your thanksgiving quotes. But then again, thanksgiving should be something that should be celebrated everyday for each of one of us. The more that we are thankful, the more blessings we will receive!

I definitely like the Albert Schweitzer quotes in numbers 2 and 16. The reason why is I like what you have to say, as well as others, when you comment on my blog posts. Your comments does conjure up a spark inside me and helps keep me connected to my higher self.

So I definitely want to show gratitude to you and your comments. Thanks for being you!

    • Hi Sherman,

I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I agree with you on having a heart of Thanksgiving, regardless of the time of year.
Being grateful is operating from one’s higher self. Thank you for your kind words.
